I came across !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on Imgur and thougt they were some neat photos. There’s also a Pelican Parts forum !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . It is for sale of course and will probably fetch ridiculous money, because air-cooled Porsche.

Does it still have a floor ? An engine that’s more than a block of rust? Anything left of the interior?

Superficially, the engine looks OK. It seems that the front of the car is worse than the back.

They don’t show us the floor or interior though so who knows?

Good questions, all. I think it’s probably mostly there but I’d expect some small holes to be patched in the floors/rockers. The engine has hope of not being seized but it did apparently have an oil leak when parked so if that continued it may have stuck together.

The potential for issues probably won’t keep the price down either way, sadly.

I really wonder where one could learn how to do restorations. Like, where does one start? I’d love to be able to redo those fenders and panels and all, then onto the mechanical parts. But my knowledge is nill..

You learn by doing. Whether that’s at schools that teach the craft, as an apprentice at a body or restoration shop or by yourself on a cheap project car, the best way to learn is by experience. I’m firmly in the last camp with my little e30, and it’s not a quick process with all the other stuff I’ve got going on. :)

Thanks! I don’t have a garage, so maybe taking some old folks classes would help..?

I assume you’re young? If so, try to find a restoration or body shop to help out at, even on a part time basis. It’ll be a good environment to pick up some skills.

There are also technical schools you can look into that will teach that sort of thing if you’re interested.

Step 1: Drop the whole car in a vat of PB Blaster.

I would park it in the garden, let some moss gross on top, and surround it with gnomes.

Nice find! Looks like Porsche themselves will be doing the restoration, according to the OP on Pelican. Should be interesting to see the process (hopefully) and the results.
